Organisational, media, mentorship, judging, and programme conceptualisation support for RIIS's annual open innovation competition for African entrepreneurs using space technologies.

The Africa Earth Observation Challenge is an annual open innovation competition led by RIIS. It equips African entrepreneurs using space technologies with business development training, pitch preparation, and incubation support to help grow their businesses at TRL 7-9.

Winners receive up to $10,000 in cash prizes, data packages, business and IP support, media publicity, technical assistance, and access to incubation and mentorship.

SpaceHubs Africa's role

SpaceHubs Africa has supported the challenge since 2025, providing organisational support, media and communications activity, mentorship during the programme, judging of finalists, and programme conceptualisation.
